I would like to welcome you to this exciting continuing education opportunity. I’m going to be learning along with everyone else and I hope that all of you will try it as well. Any CSL staff member can participate in 2.0@CSL and it’s also OK to use your CSL provided computer. You can use your Groupwise email account and when the course asks you to use a particular Web2.0 tool – its ok. As long as you have worked it out with your supervisor in advance you can also use regular work time to participate.

No matter what your role in the library I hope that you will explore, play and have fun. Who knows what ideas you will come up with that could benefit the work you do and the people you serve through one of our many services and programs.
My thanks to the great team of Kris Abery, Nancy Peluso, and Sharon Clapp who took the ball and ran with it – and crossed the goal line (please excuse the football metaphor, but it is that time of year). Ken

What is Library 2.0 anyway?
Library 2.0 is a term used to describe a new set of concepts for developing and delivering library services. The name is an extension of Web 2.0 and shares many of its same philosophies and concepts including harnessing the user in both design and implementation of services, embracing constant change as a development cycle over the tradition notion of upgrades and reworking library services to meet the users in their space, as opposed to ours (libraries). For more information, check out Wikipedia's entry for Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 which includes an extensive list of references.
