How does this online learning program work?
This is a self-discovery program which encourages staff to take control of their own learning, and to utilize their lifelong learning skills through exploration and PLAY. This course is web-based and not tied to any particular computer. Participants are encouraged to work together and share with each other their discoveries, techniques, and “how to’s” — both in person and through their blogs.
How long do I have to complete the program?
We expect our 2.0@CSL program will last 13 weeks, including a "free play" week for catch up. . New topics will be introduced each week that you'll be able to explore at your own pace but we hope everyone can be working on the same things each week to optimize sharing and exchanging of ideas.
Is this program open to all Connecticut State Library library staff?
Yes. This program is open to all library staff .
Will there be any training classes offered to show staff how to do this?
Not anything formal because this is a self-directed learning program. We'll be working together to share discoveries, techniques, glitches and how-to's both in person and online in the program.
I'm having trouble with one of the links / web2.0 sites - what should I do?
First things first - you need to check your browser settings. Once you've checked those settings and have tried reloading the website to no avail, you should do the following:
- check to ensure that your network connectivity is working (can you get to other websites, can you get your email)
- note the version of browser you're using - ensure that it meets our minimum system requirements, per the Browser 101 page
- If you need help from someone, don't forget to include information about what type and version browser you're using.
What if I need help - who can I call?
Since this program is self-directed, first give yourself a chance to PLAY and EXPERIMENT. Collaborate with other participants, and remember if you have a question about something, odds are 100% that someone else has the same question too. If you are really stuck and unable to understand or complete one of the exercises, contact one of us and we'll muddle along with you:
